Babysitter…check! Date night…check! 80’s greatest rock music…BIG check! Take your aqua net out and get ready to rock with the broadway musical that will literally take you back to the days where big hair and rock bands swept the world with guitar riffs and shreds.
Rock of Ages Musical hit the stage at San Jose’s Center for the Performing Arts Tuesday night and not one seat was spared. The story of Sherrie, a girl with big dreams to become an actress and Drew, a guy in search for the ultimate role to rock took a turn when they found each other and found love instead. And it all began in the Bourbon Room in the heart of Los Angeles’ popular Sunset Strip.
I knew that the show had a plethora of the 80’s most popular rock hits but little did I know it was most of the hits I remember growing up and one of the reasons I still love that genre of music. Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, and Foreigner just to name a few. Not only did the music take me back to the 80’s, the wardrobe played a huge part in production. Big and crimped hair, black tight jeans, fringe leather jackets, you name it, the cast wore it and they looked great!
And speaking of the cast, they blew me away with their phenomenal performances! With Shannon Mullen (Sherri), Danny McHugh (Drew), Justin Colombo (Lonny) to my favorite Stephen Michael Kane (Franz), I couldn’t get enough. Their 2 hour and 20 minute ensemble had me rocking along to the music.
Rock of Ages is playing at San Jose Center for the Performing arts through February 3, 2013. Make sure you get your tickets and see the show before it ends. It’s a MUST SEE show that you and your friends will enjoy! For more information on upcoming shows and how to purchase tickets, visit http://www.broadwaysanjose.com/index.html
