If you’re a Hello Kitty fan, then you will definitely want to pay attention. The Hello Kitty Mini Cafe just opened its doors at their first location in Northern California on Friday, June 22nd at San Jose’s “hot spot”, Santana Row (located in the Park Valencia where Kara’s Cupcakes used to be). Patrons waited patiently for hours with the first person arriving at 5am and the lines were wrapped around the building close to the opening time of 11am.
I was fortunate enough to get a peek of the cute mini cafe before they opened their doors to the public. Similar to the traveling Hello Kitty Cafe Truck, this mini cafe serves a variety of desserts, beverages (coffees, cold drinks, blended drinks), seasonal menu items along with Hello Kitty merchandise from shirts, mugs, water bottles, etc.
I was able to sample their seasonal items, Strawberry Lemonade which was really delicious (considering it was a hot day), along with the strawberry tart and I got to take home one of the giant Hello Kitty cookies to share with the kids.
Festivities will run throughout the opening weekend. If you are planning to visit, make sure to give yourself a little time as the mini cafe is definitely “mini” and because of the loyal fans, there might be a line. I will definitely be coming back with my kids and look forward to trying out everything on the menu.
