Broadway San Jose’s Mamma Mia Was A Hit!

Mamma Mia! is a smash! The atmosphere, the music, and the lights grab you from the second the lights dim.

Mamma Mia! is a story of love, love lost and love found again. It follows young Sophie, Kyra Belle Johnson, as she prepares for her wedding and tries desperately to find out which of three men are really her father. All she wants is for her father to give her away tomorrow at her wedding.

The trio of long time friends played by Erin Fish, Laura Michelle Hughes, and Sarah Smith are uproarious and have such dynamic chemistry that you can’t help but feel you are part of the story they are living. The dynamic and catchy songs like “Dancing Queen”and “S.O.S.” to “Money, Money, Money” and “Take a Chance on Me,” turn the audience into chorus members and at the end of each number, the crowd applauded themselves as much as the actors on stage.

As Sophie struggles to pin down her true father, we are confronted with the inner struggle of her mother, Erin Fish, as she is faced with lost love of her past and an uncertain way about her single future. Part feminist, part broken-hearted lover, her story is rich and deep and strikes a knowing chord in today’s society.

But the core of the story comes as we witness the struggle of the three jilted men, returned with the belief that their love has
summoned them, only to be blindsided by the knowledge they may have a 20 year old daughter. What’s more, is each one of them brings their own past 21 years of heartache to this moment, unsure of how to move forward.
