The Metropolitan Museum of Art Honors Alexander McQueen

In February 2010, the fashion world was shocked and heart broken when the media revealed the tragic death of a legend, Alexander McQueen. The British designer was only 41 years old when he ended his life and career. However, his vision of bringing theatre and drama to fashion will live forever. And that makes him, one of my all time favorite designers.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC honors the legend with an exhibit of his work, organized by the Costume Institute and will be called “Savage Beauty”, which will feature 100 pieces of his amazing work. The museum’s Costume Institute will celebrate the opening of the exhibit with a benefit on Monday, May 2, 2011. We all know THE BEST in the fashion world will be there for the gala, with Honorary Chairs François-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek, and Co-Chairs Colin Firth, Stella McCartney, and Anna Wintour.

A book that features an over view of Alexander McQueen’s career will also accompany the exhibit, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty by Andrew Bolton. The hardcover book will be published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and distributed by Yale University Press.

The Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit will open to the public on May 4, 2011 – July 31, 2011. I would love to see this exhibit in person, which I am sure will be breathtaking.
